Laura Linney plays the Guardian of the Universe named Lianna in the DC series Lanterns.
Lianna is part of the Guardians of the Universe, the ancient beings who founded and lead the Green Lantern Corps. Her casting expands the series beyond the human investigation and gives the Corps’ leadership a live-action presence within the DC Universe.
Linney’s involvement was initially reported before her character was publicly identified. Her role was revealed at the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con panel, where the show’s creators and several cast members discussed the series. The character’s name is therefore a useful distinction from more familiar comic-book Guardians.
Ganthet, Sayd and Appa Ali Apsa are also established Guardian names in DC Comics, but none is the answer for Linney’s role in Lanterns. Lianna is the specific Guardian credited to the series.
