Which Genesis character built the Ark before the Flood?

The story behind the answer

Noah built the Ark before the Flood in the Genesis narrative.

Genesis 6:13–22 presents God’s instructions to Noah and says that Noah did everything commanded of him. He was told to construct the vessel, prepare rooms, seal it with pitch, and bring aboard his family and representatives of living creatures.

Noah is described as the son of Lamech and as the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth. His story appears in Genesis chapters 6–9, where the Flood, the ark, the covenant, and his later life are narrated.

Moses, Abraham, and Joseph are also major figures in Genesis and the wider Bible, but none is identified as the builder of the ark. Moses is associated with the Exodus and Sinai, Abraham with the patriarchal covenant, and Joseph with events in Egypt.
