Which Formula 1 driver won the 2007 World Drivers’ Championship by one point?
Answer
Kimi Räikkönen
Answer
Kimi Räikkönen
Kimi Räikkönen won the 2007 Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship by one point.
Räikkönen finished the season with 110 points for Ferrari, while McLaren drivers Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso each scored 109. The championship was decided at the Brazilian Grand Prix, the final race of the season. Räikkönen won the race, with teammate Felipe Massa finishing second, while Hamilton recovered to seventh after an early problem.
The result produced one of the closest championship finishes in Formula 1 history. Räikkönen entered the final race third in the standings, behind both McLaren drivers, but the victory and their lower finishing positions transformed the order.
His 2007 title was Räikkönen’s only Formula 1 World Championship. It was also Ferrari’s first drivers’ title since Michael Schumacher’s 2004 championship, making the achievement especially important for the team.
