Graham Hill is the only Formula 1 World Champion to have won the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Hill completed this rare combination of victories alongside his two Formula 1 championships. He won the Monaco Grand Prix five times, the Indianapolis 500 in 1966 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1972.
These three victories are commonly called the motorsport Triple Crown: winning Monaco or the Formula 1 World Championship, Indianapolis and Le Mans. Hill is the only driver to have completed it under the traditional modern definition.
His Indianapolis victory came with the Chaparral team, while his Le Mans win came driving a Matra-Simca with Henri Pescarolo. Hill’s Formula 1 titles were won with BRM in 1962 and Lotus in 1968.
