Which Formula 1 driver won nine consecutive Grands Prix during the 2013 season?

The story behind the answer

Sebastian Vettel won nine consecutive Formula 1 Grands Prix during the 2013 season.

Vettel’s winning streak began at the Belgian Grand Prix and continued through the Italian, Singapore, Korean, Japanese, Indian, Abu Dhabi, United States and Brazilian Grands Prix. It was the longest run of consecutive victories in Formula 1 at the time.

Driving for Red Bull Racing, Vettel dominated the second half of the season with the Renault-powered RB9. His nine-race sequence helped him win his fourth consecutive World Drivers’ Championship, while Red Bull also secured the Constructors’ Championship.

The streak ended only when the 2014 season began. Vettel’s record is often confused with Alberto Ascari’s run of nine consecutive victories across the 1952 and 1953 seasons, but Vettel’s sequence occurred within one championship season and consisted of nine successive race wins.
