Which Formula 1 driver won his first Grand Prix at the 2003 Hungarian Grand Prix?

The story behind the answer

Fernando Alonso won his first Formula 1 Grand Prix at the 2003 Hungarian Grand Prix.

Alonso drove for Renault when he took victory at the Hungaroring on 24 August 2003. He started from pole position and controlled the race, becoming the first Spanish driver to win a Formula 1 World Championship race. His victory came in his second full Formula 1 season.

The result was notable because Alonso defeated several established stars, including Kimi Räikkönen and Juan Pablo Montoya. It also made him, at the time, the youngest Grand Prix winner in Formula 1 history, aged 22 years and 26 days.

The Hungarian victory was the beginning of Alonso’s championship-level career. He won the World Drivers’ Championship with Renault in 2005 and successfully defended it in 2006. The 2003 race is sometimes confused with his first pole position, but he had already taken pole at the 2003 Malaysian Grand Prix.
