Which Formula 1 driver became the first World Champion for Team Lotus in 1963?

The story behind the answer

Jim Clark became the first Formula 1 World Champion for Team Lotus in 1963.

Clark dominated the 1963 season in the Lotus 25, winning seven of the ten World Championship Grands Prix. His victories came in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Britain, Italy, Mexico and South Africa.

The title was Clark’s first, and it established him as one of the era’s outstanding drivers. Lotus also won the Constructors’ Championship that year, marking the team’s first championship double.

Clark later won a second drivers’ title in 1965. Graham Hill won Lotus’s next drivers’ championship in 1968, after Clark’s death in a Formula 2 race at Hockenheim earlier that year.
