Which film won Best Film at the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards?
Answer
One Battle After Another
One Battle After Another won Best Film at the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards.
The 79th British Academy Film Awards were held on 22 February 2026 at London’s Royal Festival Hall. Paul Thomas Anderson’s film took the ceremony’s top prize, alongside awards for Anderson’s direction, adapted screenplay, cinematography, editing and Sean Penn’s supporting performance.
The film competed against Hamnet, Marty Supreme, Sentimental Value and Sinners. A common mix-up is confusing Best Film with Outstanding British Film: Hamnet won the latter, while One Battle After Another won the overall Best Film award. Sinners also had a major night, taking Original Screenplay, Supporting Actress and Original Score.
The result made One Battle After Another the evening’s biggest winner, with six BAFTAs in total. Its Best Film victory recognized the production as a whole rather than a single performer or craft department.
