Which song did Jessie Ware perform for the 2026 BAFTAs In Memoriam segment?
Answer
The Way We Were
Jessie Ware performed “The Way We Were” for the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards’ In Memoriam segment.
The song was written for the 1973 romantic drama film The Way We Were, starring Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford. Streisand’s recording became one of her signature songs and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
Its BAFTA appearance gave the memorial montage a deliberately reflective connection to cinema history. The segment honors notable people from the film industry who died during the preceding year, while the accompanying performance provides a musical tribute rather than an awards-category presentation.
A common mix-up is confusing this performance with other BAFTA In Memoriam songs. Hannah Waddingham performed “Time After Time” at the 2024 ceremony, while Jessie Ware’s 2026 performance was specifically “The Way We Were.”
