Which film series did J.K. Rowling write the screenplays for after Harry Potter?

The story behind the answer

J.K. Rowling wrote the screenplays for the Fantastic Beasts film series after Harry Potter. The films expand the Wizarding World through a different period and a different central character.

The series follows Newt Scamander, a magizoologist whose travels bring him into conflicts involving magical creatures, wizarding politics, and the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. Its first film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, was released in 2016.

Although the title resembles a Hogwarts textbook, the films are not straightforward adaptations of an existing Harry Potter novel. Rowling developed the screenplay story from the fictional textbook credited to Newt Scamander, which appears as a school text in the Harry Potter books.

The film series was planned as five movies, but only three were released: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Crimes of Grindelwald, and The Secrets of Dumbledore. Eddie Redmayne played Newt in all three films.
