Which film series did J.K. Rowling write, beginning with a 2016 film about Newt Scamander?

J.K. Rowling wrote the Fantastic Beasts film series, beginning with a 2016 film about Newt Scamander.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was released in 2016 and marked Rowling’s screenwriting debut. The film stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, a magizoologist whose magical creatures escape in 1920s New York City. Its story is set decades before Harry Potter’s time.

The film title comes from a fictional Hogwarts textbook attributed to Newt Scamander. Rowling had previously published a short companion book with that title in 2001 for Comic Relief, presented as a school textbook from the wizarding world.

The film series expanded the setting beyond Britain and introduced historical figures and conflicts involving Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald. It is part of the wider Wizarding World franchise, but Fantastic Beasts is the specific film series name.
