Which film did J. K. Rowling write as the screenwriter of the 2016 wizarding-world spin-off?

The story behind the answer

J. K. Rowling wrote the screenplay for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Released in 2016, the film was directed by David Yates and starred Eddie Redmayne as magizoologist Newt Scamander. It is set in New York in 1926, decades before Harry Potter begins, and expands the wizarding world beyond Britain and Hogwarts.

The film’s title comes from a Hogwarts textbook listed in the Harry Potter books. Unlike that fictional textbook, the film presents Newt as a central character and develops a wider story involving magical creatures, the Magical Congress of the United States of America, and the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. Rowling wrote the screenplay rather than adapting a conventional full-length novel.
