Answer
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is the fictional school founded by four people in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books.
The four founders are Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin. According to the series’ history, they established Hogwarts in Scotland roughly a thousand years before Harry Potter attends it. Each founder became associated with one of the school’s four houses.
Hogwarts serves as the main setting for most of the novels. Students learn magical subjects, live in house communities, and compete for the annual House Cup. The school also contains the Sorting Hat, which assigns new students to Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin.
The founders’ differing beliefs eventually caused serious conflict, especially between Slytherin and the other founders over which students should be admitted. That disagreement is part of the background to the Chamber of Secrets plot. Hogwarts is not the only magical school in the wider setting; Beauxbatons and Durmstrang are European schools introduced in later books.
