Which fictional newspaper does J.K. Rowling’s Rita Skeeter write for in the Harry Potter series?

J.K. Rowling’s Rita Skeeter writes for The Daily Prophet in the Harry Potter series.

The Daily Prophet is the main newspaper of the British wizarding world. Skeeter is portrayed as a sensationalist reporter whose articles often distort events, invade privacy, and prioritize attention-grabbing claims over accuracy.

She appears prominently in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, where her coverage of the Triwizard Tournament and Harry’s personal life causes trouble. Skeeter’s reporting also influences how the public views Harry and other characters.

The Quibbler is a different wizarding publication, edited by Xenophilius Lovegood. It is sometimes confused with The Daily Prophet because both newspapers appear in the series, but Skeeter’s professional association is with the Prophet.
