Which fictional British village is home to J.K. Rowling’s character Harry Potter’s parents’ house?

The story behind the answer

Godric’s Hollow is the fictional British village where Harry Potter’s parents’ house is located in J.K. Rowling’s series.

The village is the home of James and Lily Potter, and it is where Voldemort attacks them on 31 October 1981. Lily’s sacrifice protects Harry, while the attack kills both parents and leaves Harry with his lightning-shaped scar.

Godric’s Hollow is also associated with several important historical figures in wizarding history, including Godric Gryffindor and Albus Dumbledore’s family. The village contains a monument commemorating the Potter family and a graveyard visited by Harry and Hermione.

It should not be confused with Little Whinging, the Surrey town where Harry grows up with the Dursleys. Hogsmeade is another wizarding settlement, but it is primarily connected with Hogwarts students and shops rather than Harry’s family home.
