Which engine powers Madden NFL 26, according to its infobox?

The story behind the answer

Madden NFL 26 is powered by the Frostbite engine.

Frostbite is Electronic Arts’ proprietary technology platform, originally developed by DICE for the Battlefield series. EA gradually expanded it across its publishing portfolio, including sports games. The Madden series moved from EA Sports’ Ignite technology to Frostbite with Madden NFL 18, making Frostbite the established engine for modern mainline Madden releases.

The engine supports rendering, lighting, animation, physics, audio, and other underlying systems, although individual games can add their own tools and gameplay technology. Madden NFL 26 was released in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Windows, and Nintendo Switch 2.

A common mix-up is confusing Madden NFL 26 with Madden NFL 25 from 2013. That earlier anniversary edition used Ignite on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, while its PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions used Infinity 2. The 2024 Madden NFL 25, by contrast, used Frostbite.
