Which company is the modern-day Templar organization in Assassin's Creed?

Abstergo Industries is the modern-day Templar organization in Assassin's Creed.

In the series' present-day storyline, Abstergo operates as a powerful multinational corporation while secretly serving the Templar Order. It uses the Animus and related technologies to explore genetic memories inherited through a person's ancestors.

The company is central to the first Assassin's Creed game, in which Desmond Miles is forced to relive Altaïr's memories. Later games show Abstergo expanding its operations into entertainment, pharmaceuticals, research, and surveillance.

Abstergo is not simply another name for the Templar Order. The corporation is its modern institutional expression, while the Order itself is the larger historical organization. The opposing modern-day Assassin network works to prevent Abstergo from controlling powerful Pieces of Eden.
