Robert Herjavec founded BRAK Systems before becoming a television investor.
Herjavec started BRAK Systems, a Canadian internet-security software company, in 1990. The business developed security products and services during the early expansion of commercial internet use, when companies were increasingly concerned about protecting networked systems.
In 2000, Herjavec sold BRAK Systems to AT&T Canada for a reported amount of about $30 million. The sale provided the financial foundation for his later technology ventures and helped establish his profile as a successful Canadian entrepreneur.
Herjavec later founded The Herjavec Group, a cybersecurity company, and became one of Shark Tank’s regular investors. BRAK Systems is distinct from The Herjavec Group: the former was the company he sold to AT&T Canada, while the latter was founded years afterward.
