Which comic-book character is Spider-Man: Brand New Day based on?

The story behind the answer

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man.

Spider-Man is the superhero identity of Peter Parker, a character created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. After gaining spider-like abilities, Peter becomes a hero whose central principle is that extraordinary power brings extraordinary responsibility.

The film follows the MCU’s Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland. It continues his story after Spider-Man: No Way Home, when a spell causes the world to forget Peter’s identity and even forget Peter himself.

Although the film draws its title from the 2008 Brand New Day comic storyline, it is not a direct screen adaptation of every event in that comic arc. The movie uses the title while telling a new MCU story about Peter’s isolated life and evolving powers.
