Joel Quenneville led the Chicago Blackhawks to Stanley Cup championships in 2010, 2013 and 2015. He coached Chicago from 2008 until 2018 and became the architect of the franchise’s modern championship era.
The 2010 title was especially significant: it was the Blackhawks’ first Stanley Cup since 1961, ending a 49-year drought. Chicago defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in six games. Quenneville’s team then won again in the lockout-shortened 2012–13 season, defeating the Boston Bruins in six games.
The Blackhawks completed their three-title run in 2015 by beating the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games. The victory made Quenneville the fourth coach in Chicago sports history to win three championships, joining figures such as George Halas and Phil Jackson.
Scotty Bowman is a common mix-up because he is one of hockey’s most successful coaches and served as a Chicago adviser. However, Quenneville was the Blackhawks’ head coach for all three of these Cup victories.
