Melbourne won the 2021 AFL premiership by defeating the Western Bulldogs.
The Demons defeated the Bulldogs by 74 points in the 2021 Grand Final, winning 21.14 (140) to 10.6 (66). The match was played at Perth Stadium on 25 September 2021 because COVID-19 restrictions prevented the MCG from hosting the event.
Melbourne led by only 21 points at half-time, but produced a remarkable third quarter, scoring 7.5 while keeping the Bulldogs scoreless. Christian Petracca won the Norm Smith Medal after collecting 39 disposals and kicking two goals.
The premiership ended Melbourne’s 57-year wait between senior men’s VFL/AFL flags. The club’s previous premiership had come in 1964. The match was also the first AFL Grand Final played in Western Australia.
