Which club won the 2018 AFL premiership after defeating Collingwood by five points?

The story behind the answer

The West Coast Eagles won the 2018 AFL premiership by defeating Collingwood by five points.

West Coast beat Collingwood 11.13 (79) to 11.8 (74) in the 2018 Grand Final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The decisive moment came late in the match when Dom Sheed kicked a goal from outside 50 metres, putting the Eagles in front.

Luke Shuey won the Norm Smith Medal for his performance in the Grand Final. The victory gave West Coast its fourth VFL/AFL premiership, following flags in 1992, 1994 and 2006.

The match was especially notable because West Coast was based in Perth while Collingwood was the traditional home club at the MCG. Collingwood led at three-quarter time, but the Eagles finished strongly and secured one of the closest Grand Finals in modern history.
