Collingwood won the 1958 VFL premiership.
Collingwood defeated Melbourne in the 1958 VFL Grand Final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The victory was the Magpies’ fourth consecutive premiership, following championships in 1955, 1956, and 1957.
The 1958 flag became especially notable because Collingwood then endured a long premiership drought in the senior men’s competition. The club eventually ended that wait by winning the 1990 premiership, although the 1958 triumph remained an important part of its historical identity.
The result is often discussed alongside Collingwood’s famous 1927–1930 run of four consecutive premierships. Those earlier flags were also remarkable, but they belonged to a different era and occurred before the club’s 1955–1958 sequence.
