Which city hosted the 1976 Winter Olympics after Denver withdrew as host?

The story behind the answer

Innsbruck hosted the 1976 Winter Olympics after Denver withdrew as host.

Denver had been awarded the 1976 Winter Games, but Colorado voters rejected public funding for the event in a 1972 referendum. Denver subsequently withdrew, creating an unusual host-city change after the award had already been made.

The International Olympic Committee selected Innsbruck, Austria, as the replacement. Innsbruck had hosted the Winter Olympics in 1964 and was able to reuse much of its existing infrastructure. The 1976 Games were held from 4 to 15 February.

Innsbruck became the first city to host the Winter Olympics twice. The city later hosted the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics, making it the first city to stage both the Winter Olympics and the Winter Youth Olympics.
