What was the name of the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics mascot?

The story behind the answer

Roni was the mascot of the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics.

Roni was a raccoon designed for the 1980 Winter Games in Lake Placid, New York. The name came from the Iroquois word for raccoon, and the character was intended to reflect wildlife associated with the Adirondack region.

The mascot wore a colorful winter-sports outfit and appeared on merchandise, promotional material and Olympic souvenirs. Roni was one of the early official Olympic mascots, created when host cities were increasingly using characters to give their Games a recognizable identity.

Roni is sometimes confused with Hidy and Howdy, the polar-bear mascots of the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. Another nearby example is Vučko, the wolf used for the 1984 Sarajevo Games. Each mascot was designed specifically for its host city and edition.
