Which character voices Mater in Pixar’s Cars movies?

Larry the Cable Guy voices Mater in Pixar’s Cars movies.

Larry the Cable Guy is the stage name of comedian and actor Daniel Lawrence Whitney. His Southern-accented comic delivery became a defining part of Mater, a rusty tow truck from Radiator Springs. Mater is Lightning McQueen’s closest friend and provides much of the series’ humor.

Mater is not merely a side character. In Cars 2, he becomes central to the spy storyline after being mistaken for an undercover agent. His sincerity and unusual behavior help him uncover the film’s conspiracy, even though international spies initially underestimate him.

Owen Wilson voices Lightning McQueen, while Bonnie Hunt voices Sally Carrera and Paul Newman voiced Doc Hudson in the first film. Those casting choices can create confusion because all four characters are strongly associated with the franchise. Larry the Cable Guy has voiced Mater in the feature films, short films, television appearances, and related games.
