Which character is the protagonist of J.K. Rowling’s Cormoran Strike novels?

Cormoran Strike is the protagonist of J.K. Rowling’s detective novels written as Robert Galbraith.

Strike is a private investigator and former Royal Military Police investigator. The series begins with The Cuckoo’s Calling, in which he investigates the death of model Lula Landry. Robin Ellacott becomes his secretary and later a central investigative partner, creating both the practical and emotional through-line of the books.

The character is distinct from Rowling’s wizarding-world heroes. Strike’s cases take place in contemporary Britain and focus on criminal investigations, personal histories, and professional relationships. Rowling’s authorship of the first novel was initially concealed by the Robert Galbraith name, but the series has continued under that pseudonym.
