Makunga is the main villain in Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.
Makunga is a male lion who challenges Zuba for leadership of the lion pride. He manipulates the pride’s traditions and uses the arrival of Alex to advance his own ambitions. This conflict forms one of the film’s principal storylines alongside the animals’ attempt to return to New York.
Makunga can be confused with other lion characters. Zuba is Alex’s father and the pride’s rightful leader, while Alex is the visiting zoo lion at the center of the family plot. Makunga is the antagonist who exploits the situation rather than a member of Alex’s immediate family.
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa was released in 2008. Alec Baldwin voices Makunga, while Ben Stiller voices Alex and Bernie Mac voices Zuba.
