Which character does Tim Allen voice in Toy Story 5?

Tim Allen voices Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story 5.

Allen has played Buzz since the original Toy Story in 1995. Buzz is a space-ranger action figure who initially believes he is a real intergalactic hero, before discovering that he is a toy belonging to Andy. His rivalry with Woody gradually becomes one of the central friendships of the series, and the two characters remain closely connected even after Woody leaves Bonnie at the end of Toy Story 4.

Toy Story 5 also includes a new group of high-tech Buzz Lightyear units that become stuck in demonstration mode. Allen voices these versions as well as the familiar Buzz, making the role especially important to the film’s story. A common mix-up is the 2022 spin-off Lightyear, in which Chris Evans voices a separate, humanized version of the fictional space ranger who inspired the toy. Tim Allen’s Buzz is the toy character from the main Toy Story films, not the protagonist of that spin-off.
