Lucy Liu voices Viper in the English-language Kung Fu Panda films.
Viper is one of the Furious Five, the elite group of kung fu masters who serve alongside Po and Master Shifu. She is a green snake known for her graceful movement, flexibility, and use of her body as a precise fighting instrument.
Viper’s portrayal is notable because the character is not written as a villain. Like the other members of the Furious Five, she initially doubts Po’s ability, but she gradually accepts him as he proves himself. Her calm, encouraging personality contrasts with the more openly stern attitudes of some teammates.
Lucy Liu is part of the principal English voice cast of the original film and its sequels. The other named Furious Five members include Tigress, Monkey, Crane, and Mantis, each voiced by a different performer.
