Zhen becomes the Dragon Warrior at the end of Kung Fu Panda 4. The fox begins the film as a thief from Juniper City and becomes Po’s reluctant companion during his final mission as the current Dragon Warrior.
Po is expected to move into the role of spiritual leader of the Valley of Peace, creating the need for a successor. Although he initially distrusts Zhen because of her criminal past, he recognizes her potential and guides her through the conflict involving the Chameleon.
Zhen’s promotion is a significant change in the franchise’s status quo. Po does not disappear from the story; instead, the ending presents a transition between generations of heroes.
The Chameleon is the film’s villain, while Tigress remains a member of the Furious Five. These roles are separate from Zhen’s eventual succession.
