Little Mix won the 2017 Brit Award for British Single with “Shout Out to My Ex.” The song was released in October 2016 as the lead single from the group’s fourth studio album, Glory Days.
The track became one of the group’s biggest commercial successes. It reached number one on the UK Singles Chart and remained there for three weeks. Its lyrics about recovering from a difficult relationship helped make it a prominent pop anthem.
At the 2017 Brit Awards, the song beat contenders including Adele’s “Hello,” Calvin Harris and Rihanna’s “This Is What You Came For,” and Zayn and Taylor Swift’s “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever.” A common mix-up is confusing this award with British Group, which Little Mix won at the 2021 ceremony. “Shout Out to My Ex” also earned the group the 2017 Global Award for Best British Group.
