Which British girl group released the 1982 album All Over the Place?

The story behind the answer

Bananarama released the 1982 debut studio album All Over the Place.

The album introduced Bananarama’s early post-punk and pop sound, before the group became more strongly associated with polished dance-pop. It included songs such as “Really Saying Something,” a collaboration with Fun Boy Three, and “Shy Boy,” which became an early hit for the trio.

Bananarama formed in London in 1981. The original members were Sara Dallin, Keren Woodward and Siobhan Fahey. Their friendships with musicians in the British alternative scene helped connect them with producers and collaborators during the group’s early period.

All Over the Place is sometimes confused with Bananarama’s later album True Confessions, released in 1986. That later record contained “Venus,” one of the group’s biggest international successes, while All Over the Place documents their original 1982 phase.
