Which book by J.K. Rowling was published in 2021 and follows a boy searching for a lost toy pig?

J.K. Rowling’s 2021 children’s novel about a boy searching for a lost toy pig is The Christmas Pig.

The Christmas Pig follows Jack, whose favorite toy, a stuffed pig called Dur Pig, is lost on Christmas Eve. Jack and a new toy embark on a journey through a magical land in search of the missing companion. The book explores friendship, loss, and the emotional importance children can attach to familiar objects.

It was published in 2021 and is not part of the Harry Potter universe. Rowling wrote both the text and the story concept, while the illustrated edition helped present the adventure as a substantial standalone children’s book.

The title is sometimes confused with The Ickabog, Rowling’s previous standalone children’s fantasy, published in 2020. The two books share a younger target audience but have different settings, characters, and plots. The Christmas Pig is centered on toys and memory rather than a kingdom threatened by political deception.
