Which Bob Marley album was named Album of the Century by Time magazine?

The story behind the answer

Exodus was the Bob Marley album named Album of the Century by Time magazine. Released in June 1977, it was the ninth studio album by Bob Marley and the Wailers and followed Rastaman Vibration.

The album took shape during a turbulent period in Marley's life. After an assassination attempt in Jamaica in December 1976, he moved to London, where much of Exodus was recorded or completed. Its title track reflects themes of political change, spiritual freedom and migration, while the album's second side includes some of Marley's most widely known songs, including “Jamming,” “Waiting in Vain,” “Three Little Birds” and “One Love/People Get Ready.”

A common mix-up is Legend, the hugely successful 1984 compilation that introduced many listeners to Marley. Legend is not the album Time selected. In 1999, Time named Exodus the best album of the 20th century, a distinction separate from later rankings by Rolling Stone and VH1.
