Lemonade is the Beyoncé album built around a 2016 film and visual narrative about Black womanhood. Beyoncé released the album on April 23, 2016, following the premiere of its accompanying film on HBO.
The project combines R&B, pop, rock, blues, soul, hip-hop, and country influences. Its songs are arranged into chapters associated with emotional and cultural themes, creating a connected experience rather than a simple collection of singles.
The album includes “Formation,” “Sorry,” “Hold Up,” and “All Night.” It also features guest appearances from Jack White, Kendrick Lamar, James Blake, and The Weeknd.
Lemonade received widespread critical acclaim and was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2017 Grammy Awards. A frequent mix-up is assuming the album and film have separate unrelated titles; both are known as Lemonade and were designed as parts of one artistic project.
