Beyoncé won her first Grammy Awards in 2004, including honors connected with “Crazy in Love.”
At the 46th Annual Grammy Awards, held on February 8, 2004, “Crazy in Love” won Best R&B Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. Beyoncé also won Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for “Dangerously in Love 2,” and she received two additional awards for the album Dangerously in Love.
This ceremony was the beginning of her long Grammy-winning career as a solo artist. She had already achieved major success with Destiny’s Child, but the 2004 awards confirmed her individual status in the recording industry. “Crazy in Love” was the lead single from Dangerously in Love and featured rapper Jay-Z.
The year can be confused with the song’s release year. “Crazy in Love” came out in 2003, while the Grammy ceremony recognizing it took place in 2004. Grammy awards are generally presented for work released during the preceding eligibility period.
