Beyoncé’s onstage alter ego introduced during her 2000s career was Sasha Fierce.
She described Sasha Fierce as a more daring and uninhibited performance persona. Beyoncé explained that the alter ego helped her separate her private self from the confident, high-energy character she portrayed onstage.
The name became the organizing idea for her 2008 third studio album, I Am... Sasha Fierce. The album used a two-disc structure: “I Am...” presented more personal songs, while “Sasha Fierce” emphasized uptempo and performance-driven material.
Songs associated with the project include “If I Were a Boy,” “Halo,” “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” and “Diva.” Beyoncé later said she no longer needed to rely on Sasha Fierce because she had grown more comfortable fully combining her personal and performing identities.
