Which award did J.K. Rowling receive from the British royal family in 2017?
Answer
Companion of Honour
Answer
Companion of Honour
J.K. Rowling received the Order of the Companions of Honour in 2017.
The honour was announced in the 2017 Birthday Honours for Rowling’s services to literature and philanthropy. The order, commonly called the Companions of Honour, is limited to a small number of members at any one time.
Rowling had already received an OBE in 2001 for services to children’s literature and was made a member of the Order of the Companions of Honour sixteen years later. These are separate honours, so the 2017 recognition should not be confused with her earlier OBE.
The award acknowledged both her literary achievements and charitable work. Rowling has supported causes including multiple sclerosis research and children’s welfare through charitable organizations.
