Lexus used the slogan “The Relentless Pursuit of Perfection.”
The line became associated with Lexus, Toyota’s luxury-vehicle division, during the brand’s early international marketing. It expressed Lexus’s emphasis on engineering precision, quietness, craftsmanship and customer service. The slogan also helped distinguish the new marque from Toyota’s mass-market identity.
Lexus launched in the United States in 1989 with the LS 400 luxury sedan and ES 250. The company’s early advertising focused heavily on quality and refinement, including demonstrations intended to show the smoothness and low vibration of its vehicles.
The slogan is sometimes confused with “The Pursuit of Perfection,” a shortened form used in Lexus-related marketing, or with Cadillac’s “The Standard of the World.” Lexus later adopted different brand messages in some markets, but the longer “Relentless Pursuit of Perfection” remains one of its signature historical slogans.
