Which athlete won the women's monobob gold medal at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics?

Kaillie Humphries won the women’s monobob gold medal at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

Representing the United States, Humphries won the inaugural Olympic women’s monobob competition. She completed four runs in a combined time of 4 minutes 19.27 seconds at the Yanqing National Sliding Centre. Canada’s Christine de Bruin took silver, and the United States’ Elana Meyers Taylor won bronze.

Monobob is a one-person bobsleigh event. Unlike two-woman bobsleigh, the athlete drives and pushes the same sled alone, meaning that steering, braking, and the initial push all depend on one competitor.

Humphries had previously won two Olympic gold medals in two-woman bobsleigh for Canada at Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014. Her Beijing victory made her the first Olympic champion in women’s monobob.
