Which animated film features a character named Woody?

The story behind the answer

Toy Story is the animated film that features a character named Woody.

Released in 1995, Toy Story follows Woody, a cowboy doll who is Andy’s favorite toy until Buzz Lightyear arrives. Woody initially feels threatened by Buzz, who believes he is a real space ranger rather than an action figure. Their rivalry drives much of the story, but the two eventually become close friends.

Toy Story was produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Directed by John Lasseter, it was the first feature-length film made entirely with computer-generated animation and became a major milestone in cinema history. Tom Hanks voices Woody, while Tim Allen voices Buzz Lightyear.

The title is sometimes confused with Pixar’s later spin-off Lightyear, which focuses on the fictional space hero who inspired Buzz’s toy. Woody does not appear as a central character in that film. Toy Story instead launched a major franchise that includes sequels, short films, television specials, and theme-park attractions.
