In 'Spirited Away', what is the name of the multi-armed boiler man who works in the bathhouse?

The story behind the answer

In “Spirited Away,” the multi-armed boiler man who works in the bathhouse is Kamaji.

Kamaji operates the bathhouse boiler room, where he manages the soot sprites called susuwatari. His many arms let him tend numerous pipes and tasks at once, making him one of the film’s most visually distinctive spirits. Although he initially appears gruff and busy, he helps Chihiro by supporting her request for work.

Haku directs Chihiro to ask Kamaji for a job after her parents are transformed into pigs. Kamaji sends Lin to take her to Yubaba, the witch who runs the bathhouse. He later gives Chihiro train tickets for her journey to visit Zeniba.

Kamaji is sometimes confused with No-Face, another major bathhouse figure, or with Haku, the dragon-like spirit who assists Chihiro. Zeniba is Yubaba’s twin sister, not a bathhouse worker. In Japanese, Kamaji’s name is associated with “boiler grandad.”
