The animated film “Coco” (2017) won 2 Academy Awards.
At the 90th Academy Awards, “Coco” won Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “Remember Me.” The ceremony took place on March 4, 2018, recognizing films released during 2017. These were the film’s only Oscar wins, making two the canonical answer.
“Coco” was produced by Pixar Animation Studios and directed by Lee Unkrich, with Adrian Molina as co-director and co-writer. Its story follows Miguel, a young aspiring musician who enters the Land of the Dead during Día de los Muertos and uncovers a family secret.
The film’s Oscar-winning song was written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Viewers sometimes confuse its two Academy Awards with its larger haul from other ceremonies, including the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film and the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature.
