Answer
The Chiffons
Answer
The Chiffons
The Chiffons recorded the 1963 hit song “He’s So Fine.”
Released by Laurie Records in January 1963, “He’s So Fine” became the group’s signature song and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The recording features a bright, repetitive vocal hook and backing that helped define the early-1960s girl-group sound.
The Chiffons formed in the Bronx, New York, and originally consisted of Judy Craig, Patricia Bennett, and Barbara Lee. Sylvia Peterson later joined the group. Their name was reportedly suggested by songwriter Ronnie Mack, who helped develop the act.
“He’s So Fine” is sometimes confused with later songs influenced by its melody. In 1976, a court found that George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord” had subconsciously copied part of the song, although the two recordings were released more than a decade apart. The Chiffons had another major success with “One Fine Day,” released later in 1963.
