Which airline received the first Airbus A320neo in January 2016?
Answer
Lufthansa
Answer
Lufthansa
Lufthansa received the first Airbus A320neo in January 2016.
The delivery marked the beginning of commercial service for Airbus’s re-engined A320neo family. Lufthansa, Germany’s flag carrier, operated the aircraft on its European network after becoming the type’s launch operator.
The A320neo retains the basic A320 airframe but adds new engines and aerodynamic improvements, including modified wingtip devices. Customers could choose between the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G and CFM International LEAP-1A engines, although the first Lufthansa aircraft used Pratt & Whitney engines.
The A320neo is often confused with the A321neo, which is the longer member of the same family. Lufthansa’s first delivery specifically concerned the standard-length A320neo, not the A321neo or the later A320neo-family variants.
