Which airline operated the first commercial Airbus A380 flight?

The story behind the answer

Singapore Airlines operated the first commercial Airbus A380 flight.

The historic service took place on 25 October 2007, linking Singapore Changi Airport with Sydney Airport. Singapore Airlines had been the launch customer for the A380 and used the aircraft to introduce the type to regular passenger service.

The A380 program had attracted substantial attention because it combined two full passenger decks with a very large airframe. Its first commercial operation therefore became a major event in modern aviation history.

Emirates later became the A380's largest operator, which can cause confusion about the first airline. Singapore Airlines was the launch operator and flew the inaugural commercial service; Emirates became the most prominent long-term user by fleet size. The A380's final commercial future was affected by the industry's shift toward smaller, efficient twin-engine aircraft.
