Which Airbus A340 variant has the longest fuselage?

The story behind the answer

The Airbus A340-600 has the longest fuselage of all Airbus A340 variants.

The A340-600 was developed as a stretched member of the four-engine A340 family. Its fuselage measures about 75.36 metres, making it longer than the A340-500 and longer than the A340-300 and A340-200. Airbus designed it for high-capacity, long-range routes before later twin-engine aircraft became more dominant.

The variant entered commercial service with Virgin Atlantic in 2002. It used Rolls-Royce Trent 500 engines and could carry substantially more passengers than the shorter A340 versions. Its length required additional landing-gear arrangements and structural changes compared with earlier members of the family.

The A340-600 is sometimes confused with the A340-500 because both are long-range aircraft introduced in the same broad period. The A340-500 had greater range, while the A340-600 was the family’s stretched, higher-capacity version. The later Airbus A350-1000 is a different aircraft family.
