Which actor voices Lightning McQueen in Pixar's Cars?
Answer
Owen Wilson
Owen Wilson voices Lightning McQueen in Pixar's Cars.
Wilson provides the voice of the ambitious rookie race car who begins the story focused almost entirely on winning the Piston Cup. Lightning's stay in Radiator Springs gradually changes his priorities and relationships.
The character's name combines the Chevrolet Corvette designer and engineer Glenn McQueen with Pixar animator and director John Lasseter's admiration for racing culture. Lightning is designed as a fictional stock car rather than a direct replica of one production model.
Several other cast members are easy to confuse with Wilson. Larry the Cable Guy voices Mater, Bonnie Hunt voices Sally Carrera, and Paul Newman voices Doc Hudson. In the film's sequels, Wilson continued voicing Lightning, while the character's racing career expanded from rookie competitor to established champion and mentor.
