Which actor provided the voice of Mater in Pixar’s Cars?

Larry the Cable Guy provided the voice of Mater in Pixar’s Cars.

Larry the Cable Guy is the stage name of Daniel Lawrence Whitney, an American comedian known for his rural-inflected comic persona. Mater is a rusty tow truck from Radiator Springs who becomes Lightning McQueen’s closest friend. His humor, loyalty, and distinctive speech make him one of the franchise’s central characters.

Mater’s full name is Tow Mater, a pun on “tomater,” reflecting the film’s habit of giving vehicles human-style names and automotive wordplay. Although Mater initially appears to be a simple small-town tow truck, later stories give him larger roles, including an accidental career as an international spy in Cars 2.

Larry the Cable Guy returned for Cars 2 and Cars 3, as well as multiple Cars television projects and shorts. The character’s popularity also led to Mater-focused merchandise and the 2013 short-form series Tales from Radiator Springs.
